On April 13, 2013, twelve grade 12 students from Assumption participated in the annual Great Lakes
Science Olympiad at the University of Windsor. Divided into two teams, Raiders competed against
several other local High Schools in events where their scientific knowledge, team work, quick thinking
and problem solving skills were tested and retested many times.
The events covered areas in high school physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy , computer science and engineering.
Thanks to the superb problem solving skills, team work and a broad ranging knowledge of science, Assumption placed
THIRD in a very challenging “Science Pursuit” which is fashioned after the Amazing Race. After running
through rain, crawling in mud and spinning in circles, they didn’t miss a beat and were still able to
correctly answer questions about the circulatory system, food groups and chemical reactions.
Congratulation to : Yasmeen Alkhouri, Suyeon Ahn, Lauren Chan , Quinn Conlon, Yasser Hamadani, Ally

Thank you for making Assumption proud!
