Assumption Student United States National Diving Champion

Assumption grade nine student Jaina Gaudette became an official National United States Champion last week at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The fourteen year old won the Gold Medal at the East National USA Junior Olympic Diving Competition on the one-meter board and the Bronze Medal on both the three-meter and platform for fourteen/fifteen year olds.

Jaina has been diving since she was nine years old and training at the Legacy Diving Club in Ann Arbour Michigan.  She has now qualified for all country meets and if she wins, she will go on to the Pan Am Games and qualify for the 2016 Olympics.

When asked what her back up plan was for a career, she said she is thinking about Law School and perhaps a career in politics.  Judging by her 94% average in the International Baccalaureate Program, incredible drive and focus (over 70 Diving Medals), and dual citizenship, she just may end up in a very important job in Ottawa or Washington. Look out Prime Minister Harper and President Obama!
