ACS Reach Team Champions!

On April 1st, the Assumption Reach Team participated in the Regional Championship Competition at St. Joseph High School.  We played four games with other top schools from the Windsor and Essex county.  Assumption Raiders won FIRST place, qualifying for the Provincial Finals in Toronto.
Nick Tobin lead the team with a fantastic performance, being able to correctly spell the most challenging words, name the moons of Mars, recall  random history facts, and win scrambles for control.
Antony Piruzza’s outstanding knowledge of Outkast and quick response time helped our team win several forty point questions.
Josh Jaekel's excellent memory in the area of science and popular culture was invaluable.
Finally, Erin Gaudette and Elisabetta Kerr were of  great assistance with their vast knowledge of literature, media, art  and culture.
Michele D’Agnillo, although unable to attend the final championship, has proven himself an extremely valuable player, often being a top scorer at regular season games. His contribution to our team is greatly appreciated.
Mrs Sawicki would like to thank all Reach Team members for the successful season, and for representing our school with great pride, dignity and class.

ACS students participate in Poetry in Voice

In February, 10 students competed in the Poetry in Voice competition.

Poetry in Voice is a national recitation contest for Canadian high schools. Students memorize and recite two  poems chosen from hundreds in an online anthology. By learning poems by heart, students develop lifelong relationships with poetry while improving their language, public speaking, and memorization skills.
