2 Raiders in SW Ontario's Top 3!!
The Optimist Club sponsors an annual public speaking competition and a pair of Raiders established themselves as the best around!
In March, Tejas Pandya and Allison Nguyen presented speeches titled "how my optimism will press me on to greater things". At the club level, each student finished among the top 3 and advanced.
The second round of competition (zone level) was open to all the qualifiers in the Windsor/Essex Region, and again Tejas and Allison were among the top 3 finalists. Each won scholarship money for their efforts after this win.
The 3rd round of competition (regional level) was 2 weeks ago in Sarnia. Once again, Tejas and Allison each landed among the top 3 speakers and subsequently qualified for the finals.
On Saturday, the top speakers converged for the grand finals. Both of their performances were simply outstanding. Tejas was chosen by the panel of judges as the overall winner, and recipient of a $2500 scholarship. Allison came in 3rd place (a grade 12 from London was ahead of her - but she will likely win next year!!)
