ACS Shines at the Waterloo Math Contest

Congrats to all of the ACS students who participated in the Waterloo Math Contest results. We had some amazing results.

We had a particularly strong showing from the grade 9's.

Jonathan Bodonsky finished in the top 1%, this is an amazing achievement considering that over 31,000 students wrote the grade 9 contest!  On top of this the grade 9's Benedykt Skrzypek and Rithika John both placed in the top 4%.  This placed our grade 9 school team 51st out of over 1600 teams or in the top 3%.  This has been Assumption's best performance ever!

As for our grade 10's, Danh Phan placed in the top 5% out of over 25,000 students, followed closely by Justin Uplindo and Jonathan Ozorak who both placed in the top 8%.

Congratulations again to our talented students.

ACS Reach for the Top Team

Reach Team Members (L-R).  Josh Mallare, Zack Young, Adrian DiMeo,  Akash Narshana, Jaina Gaudette, Josh Rocetes, Olena Cajmer, Jonathan Badonsky, Bano Balore, Mrs. Sawicki. In front row:  Pavneet Bhullar and Daniela Papac.

The Assumption Reach for the Top team ended another fun and exciting  season at the Championship tournament on March 29, 2015 with an outstanding performance.  The Assumption Raiders played against the top ranked reigning champion High School; Massey. In this very intense and exciting game, we ended up tying and had to answer a "sudden death" question. Sadly we missed it by a fraction of a second, the slimmest of margins.  So, although we will not be heading to Toronto this year, we take comfort in knowing that our team competed extremely well and would give other teams from the rest of the Ontario everything got.
The success of the team was largely based on our amazing seniors:  Enzo Campa, Adrian Di Meo, Josh Mallare and Zack Young who will be graduating this year.  Their leadership and skills are greatly appreciated.  The rookies Jonathan Badonsky, Bano Valore, Jonathan Rocetes, Olena Cajmer and Daniela Papac had also competed well throughout the season.  Congratulations.
